Analysis of Biosafety Performance in Selected Hospital Medical Laboratories in Karachi, Pakistan

Abstract: This study assessed biosafety performance between 5 selected private-sector hospital medical laboratories in Karachi, Pakistan. A 40-question questionnaire was distributed among 120 technical staff to better understand the practices and awareness level of technical staff in place. “…Regardless of the past work experience and laboratory setting type, the baseline knowledge of all participants concerning biosafety and risk assessment was low. Similar results were reported in other biosafety training programs in different settings [ [13] , [14] , [15] , [16] ]. Our workshops were effective in delivering the fundamental concepts of biosafety in the context of SARS-CoV-2 as evidenced by the significant improvement in the post test scores.…”
