“…In early work, Bogan and Marriner [139] developed an isocratic separation for eight benzimidazole residues on a C 18 column in 14 min, but the substances were poorly resolved. Bull and Shume [130] later separated metabolites of FBZ and TCB in a 40 min run time.…”

“…Karlaganis et al [144] determined MBZ in plasma, finding less interference at a wavelength of 307 nm compared to 247 nm. Bogan and Marriner [139] developed a method for determination of eight benzimidazoles in body fluids, using UV detection at 292 nm. Mellergaard et al [138] determined MBZ residues in eel muscle at 254 nm.…”

“…The analysis of serum for the benzimidazoles was done by the procedure described by Bogan and Marriner (1980) and Lehr and Datum (1986) except that the extraction solvent was ethyl acetate-hexane (1:1) and the chromatography was performed using a Waters 6000E pump, model 812 WISP and Waters 490 UV detector with a HP 3396 reporting integrator and a disk drive for data collection. The column was an Alltech C-18 and the eluant was a gradient between acetonitrile-water (3:7) containing 0.01 mol/L perchlorate adjusted to pH 2.7 and acetonitrile-water (65:35) also containing perchlorate.…”

“…There have been many publications describing the determination of BZD concentrations by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in plasma [5][6][7][8][9][10], in biological fluids/tissues of different animal species [11][12][13][14][15][16][17] and in other biological matrices [18]. The concentration profiles of the drug/metabolites measured in plasma strongly correlate with those achieved in different tissues/fluids of treated animals.…”
