BackgroundPopulus deltoides is widely cultivated in China and produces a large number of pollen and poplar flocs from March to June per year. Previous studies have found that the pollen of P. deltoides contains allergens. However, studies on the ripening mechanism of pollen/poplar flocs and their common allergens are very limited.MethodsProteomics and metabolomics were used to study the changes of proteins and metabolites in pollen and poplar flocs of P. deltoides at different developmental stages. Allergenonline database was used to identify common allergens in pollen and poplar flocs at different developmental stages. Western blot (WB) was used to detect the biological activity of common allergens between mature pollen and poplar flocs.ResultsIn total, 1400 differently expressed proteins (DEPs) and 459 different metabolites (DMs) were identified from pollen and poplar flocs at different developmental stages. KEGG enrichment analysis showed that DEPs in pollen and poplar flocs were significantly enriched in ribosome and oxidative phosphorylation signaling pathways. The DMs in pollen are mainly involved in aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis and arginine biosynthesis, while the DMs in poplar flocs are mainly involved in glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism. Additionally, 72 common allergens were identified in pollen and poplar flocs at different developmental stages. WB showed that there were distinct binding bands between 70 and 17KD at the two groups of allergens.ConclusionsA multitude of proteins and metabolites are closely related to the ripening of pollen and poplar flocs of Populus deltoides, and they contain common allergens between mature pollen and poplar flocs.

O feijão comum (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) é a leguminosa mais importante em todo o mundo, com produção global estimada em 26,8 milhões de toneladas métricas em 2016, além de ser cultivado por suas vagens verdes, bem como por suas sementes secas. As plantas, de uma maneira geral, respondem a estresses ambientais com uma série de mecanismos de adaptação fisiológica e molecular. As proteínas de choque térmico (HSPs) são proteínas protetoras contra uma ampla gama de condições de estresse bióticos e abióticos e são proteínas altamente conservadas que ocorrem em todos os organismos na natureza. Foi demonstrado pela primeira vez que as HSP70 eram induzidas por altas temperaturas, mas nos últimos anos elas foram consideradas como proteínas responsivas ao estresse geral, que são induzidas por muitas condições de estresse abiótico. Outros estudos verificaram que as HSP70s são altamente expressas sob condições de calor, frio e estresse por seca. Sendo assim, o aumento da tolerância devido à alta expressão de HSP70s foi demonstrado em algumas espécies de plantas. Diversas ferramentas computacionais têm sido utilizadas para uma ampla análise do genoma in silico têm sido utilizadas para identificação de novas proteínas e genes. Embora as tecnologias ômicas tenham se tornado significativamente populares, são poucos os estudos sobre identificação e caracterização da HSP70 em Phaseolus vulgaris. Portanto, o objetivo do presente estudo foi realizar uma caracterização estrutural e identificação das HSP70 em Phaseolus vulgaris utilizando métodos computacionais de genoma amplo, sendo elas: análise fenética, análise de potencial alergênico e modelagem tridimensional das sequências.

The detailed knowledge on the reproductive biology of plants is required for their successful cultivation and conservation. The reproductive characteristics of trees are required to assess the diversity patterns and community structure of the forests. Understanding the reproductive characteristics, such as, pollination, breeding systems, phenology, and floral biology of Populus deltoides is immensely important; because it is one the most important tree species in India. The review documented the physiological basis of the reproductive characteristics of poplar tree. Literature indicated that the dioecious species shows a regular flowering patternin both the male and female trees, and they produces flower (catkin) every year. In all the species, male flower buds bursted earlier than the vegetative bud, whereas, female flower buds bursted after the emergence of leaves. Unisexual flowering occurs between February and April in both male & female, and the dispersal of seeds reported in late May or early June. Most of the pollen grains exhibited reddish colour. The fruits are capsule shaped, splits into 3or 4 parts, and release cotton like seeds, which are viable for only a short period. Poplar mostly regenerates from seed under natural conditions, but are also capable of asexual or vegetative reproduction under artificial conditions. The male and female plant produces a significant number of hybrids seeds; resulting in an excellent growth of the plants. The species displayed cross-pollination characteristics. The information documented in the current literature will be quite useful to understand the reproductive characteristics of the Populus deltoides.
