Analysis for reliability and validity of gross motor function and health fitness tests for children with developmental disabilities

Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the reliability and validity of gross motor function and health fitness assessment tests for children with developmental disabilities. All 35 participants who took part in this study on a voluntary basis were male children (age, 10.31± 1.25 years). All selected tests for gross motor function and health fitness assessments were used in previous studies to measure basic physical health and motor abilities, which include strength (grip strength test), muscular endurance (mod… Show more

“…The recorders were instructed on how to record the pacer and to accurately give the starting signal. When the beep sounded, it was closely observed whether both feet completely passed the line and changed direction, whether they ran in a straight line without departing from the measurement line, and whether the entire person was moving in the same direction [ 24 ]. This test was completed once, and the maximum number of repetitions was recorded.…”

“…A 15-m shuttle run test was used to measure cardiopulmonary endurance, which is commonly used as an aerobic fitness test. This is also referred to as a bleep test or multi-stage fitness test ( Yoon et al, 2019 ). Before beginning the test, the subjects were explained the test procedures by an expert and instructed to complete warm-ups.…”

“…This study used the test of gross motor development scale-2 (TGMD-2), which is a standardized criterion that measures GMF changes in disabled persons according to Yoon et al (2019). Reliability of this test was found to be Cronbach a=0.894.…”

“…A 15-m shuttle run test was used to measure cardiopulmonary endurance. This test is a commonly used aerobic fitness test, which is also known as a beep or bleep test (Yoon et al, 2019). To complete this test, the following equipment were used: a flat, nonslip surface, 15 m of measuring tape, marking cones, a music player, a beep test audio, and recording sheets.…”
