Analysis and improvement of a novel image fusion encryption algorithm based on DNA sequence operation and hyper-chaotic system

Abstract: Recently, a novel image encryption algorithm based on DNA operation and hyper-chaotic system has been proposed by Zhang et al. The encryption algorithm first shuffles the image pixels using Chen chaotic system. After shuffling process, the proposed encryption algorithm changes the gray levels of the image pixels using DNA operation. In this study, we give out complete break for the proposed cryptosystem using a chosen plaintext attack. Both mathematical proofs and experimental results are presented to support … Show more

“…In the paper of D. Lambic the security analysis and improvement of a block cipher with dynamic S-boxes based on tent map is analyzed [21]. In the paper of Ozkaynak et al, is done analysis of a novel image fusion encryption algorithm based on DNA sequence operation and hyper-chaotic system [22]. This paper outlines the work of the authors' investigation into the design of a new pseudo-randomly generated keydependent S-boxes.…”

“…However, in most cases, traditional encryption techniques, such as DES, RSA, AES, and IDEA, are specifically made for text data. For image data with different intrinsic characteristics, such as large data storage requirements, high redundancy, and strong correlation among adjacent pixels [1,2], traditional encryption techniques demonstrate limited performance at best. Therefore, chaos-based image encryption schemes have been developed specifically for images.…”

“…Recently, DNA-based image encryption has aroused great interest [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. For example, Liu et al [7] proposed a color image encryption algorithm based on DNA encoding and the Logistic map.…”

“…But this cryptosystem is very weak to a chosen-plaintext attack [8]. An image fusion encryption scheme based on DNA sequence operation and Chen hyper-chaotic system was introduced in [9], which can be cracked by the chosen-plaintext attack [10]. To enhance the security of the cryptosystem, Zhang et al [11] shuffled the position and value of pixels by using combination of chaotic systems and DNA encoding to implement encryption of digital image and using quaternary DNA encoding instead of binary encoding.…”
