A Novel Method to Design S-Boxes Based on Key-Dependent Permutation Schemes and its Quality Analysis

Abstract: Abstract-S-boxes are used in block ciphers as the important nonlinear components. The nonlinearity provides important protection against linear and differential cryptanalysis. The Sboxes used in encryption process could be chosen to be keydependent. In this paper, we have presented four simple algorithms for generation key-dependent S-boxes. For quality analysis of the key-dependent S-boxes, we have proposed eight distance metrics. We have assumed the Matlab function "randperm" as standard of permutation and c… Show more

“…Mostly, a key-dependent and dynamic S-box improves the strength of the respective block cipher. For instance, Marcin Niemiec et al [16] and K. Kazlauskas et al [17] used key-dependent S-boxes and proposed methods to produce enormous quantity of strong S-Boxes. Authors [18][19][20][21] proposed key-dependent dynamic S-boxes and analyses show that proposed S-boxes are cryptographically very strong.…”

“…The authors described the way to generate a huge number of S-Boxes, which all exhibit good security landscapes. Kazlauskas et al [ 19 ] proposed four algorithms to generate key-dependent S-Boxes and evaluated the worth of these boxes using distance metrics. Results demonstrate that the generated S-Boxes are of a high quality.…”

“…If the value is less than or equal to 12 then it is secure from differential attacks. [4] This paper did the analysis about the generation of s-box using pseudo random key dependent method. Four algorithms were proposed and eight distance metrics were considered to do the quality analysis.…”
