Analysis and Design of an LCL-T Resonant Converter as a Constant-Current Power Supply

Abstract: Abstract-An LCL-T resonant converter (LCL-T RC) is shown to behave as a current source when operated at resonant frequency. A detailed analysis of the LCL-T RC for this property is presented. Closed-form expressions for converter gain, component stresses, and the condition for converter design optimized for minimum size of resonant network is derived. A design procedure is illustrated with a prototype 200-W 20-A current-source power supply and experimental results are presented. The LCL-T RC as a current sourc… Show more

“…The designed compensation capacitance for each case is used regardless of the misalignment condition. Since the resonant network topology used for primary pad in this paper is LCL type, calculation of C p is not needed for simulation, instead, primary current, I p , is designed as 16.83 A rms [10]. Table 1 the highest efficiency over misalignment condition.…”

“…The performance of such converters was analyzed in Russia (Milach et al 1964;Dozorov 2013) and elsewhere (Borage et al 2005;Borage and Tiwari 2012;Zouggar et al 2000). However LCL converters can operate just in opposite way converting current source into voltage source, which is exactly the task the converter should perform in PV battery fed by PSU.…”

“…At high wind speed, the electrical frequency increases and the reactive impedance of the generator will be high, while the impedance of the battery load will be low. In this case, the poor impedance matching will limit power transfer to the DC system (Yamamura et al, 1999;Borage, 2005;Daniel and Gounden, 2004;Arutchelvi and Daniel, 2006;2007).…”
