This research is motivated by the low ability of students in mathematical modelling, especially in the set material. To overcome this problem, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model is used. This study aims to describe how students' abilities related to mathematical modelling on the set material using the PBL model. This research took place at SMP Negeri 1 Muara Pinang, Empat Lawang Regency for the 2021/2022 academic year, involving 14 students as research subjects. The research method used is descriptive with quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques based on mathematical modelling indicators. Data were collected using tests and interviews. From the results of the study, it was shown that the students' ability to model the set material was categorized enough with an average student score of 45.1 with a percentage of 50%.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan jawaban siswa berdasarkan teori Kastolan pada materi himpunan ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Studi kasus digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 8 siswa kelas VII pada satu SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Bekasi. Instrumen tes digunakan dalam penelitian ini yang terdiri lima soal uraian, memuat: indikator mengemukakan simbol dan bahasa matematika dari kejadian sehari-hari, menjelaskan situasi dan hubungan suatu ide matematika ke dalam bentuk gambar atau diagram, menjelaskan matematika dalam segi bahasa matematika dari kejadian sehari-hari, dan mengubah satu bentuk representasi ke dalam representasi lainnya. Instrumen tes yang digunakan diuji coba terlebih dahulu dengan hasil uji validitasnya sebesar 0,334 dan hasil uji reliabilitasnya sebesar 0,712. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah mengumpulkan data, eksplorasi, menganalisis, dan meninjau data. Pada tahap awal, siswa diberikan soal uraian mengenai materi himpunan sebanyak lima soal untuk diselesaikan. Kemudian, dilakukan analisis data pada hasil pengerjaan soal yang telah diselesaikan untuk melihat kesalahan-kesalahan jawaban siswa. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa masih tergolong rendah, karena siswa melakukan kesalahan konsep, kesalahan prosedur, dan kesalahan teknik, dimana masing-masing siswa melakukan kesalahan dengan indikator yang berbeda. Ketiga kesalahan tersebut berhubungan dengan komunikasi matematis yakni mengungkapkan gagasan dalam bentuk tulisan. Ketika siswa melakukan kesalahan tersebut, artinya berpengaruh juga terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematisnya. Penyebab kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa yaitu karena tidak memahami konsep-konsep sederhana mengenai materi himpunan, tidak mengetahui apa makna soal yang dimaksud, dan tidak mampu menyelesaikan kalimat-kalimat matematika

Mathematical reasoning ability is one of the important learning objectives of mathematics to be achieved by students at school. This study aims to analyze qualitative studies on mathematical reasoning abilities conducted in the period 2015-2021. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on all qualitative research articles indexed in Google Scholar, Semantic and ERIC. The search strategy was adapted to the selection criteria and used the PRISMA protocol as a guide for the research instrument. The variables involved in this study are the year of publication, education level, research class, demographics, journal indexer, material analyzed, and type of reasoning ability used. All data obtained are presented in a quantitative descriptive. The results of the SLR research show that studies related to students' mathematical reasoning abilities are widely published in 2020 and 2021. The majority of these studies are carried out at the junior high school level in grade VIII. The study was also dominated in Java & Bali on geometry and algebra materials. Suggestions for future educators or researchers to do more research on mathematical reasoning skills from the elementary school level, in areas outside Java & Bali, on materials other than algebra and geometry as well as research related aspects of proof.
