Análise da qualidade do carvão vegetal para uso residencial na região de Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil

Abstract

No Brasil, o carvão vegetal tem dois principais usos: o industrial, na produção de ferro-gusa e aço, e o doméstico, usado majoritariamente para preparo de churrasco. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a qualidade do carvão vegetal para uso doméstico na região de Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil, visto que o Estado do Paraná não possui normativas que intervenham nesse aspecto. Para isso, foram coletadas 15 marcas comercializadas na cidade e analisadas suas propriedades físicas e energéticas em laboratório. Os valores médios das amostras analisadas apresentaram teor de umidade de 5,79%, teor de voláteis de 22,93%, carbono fixo de 74,95%, teor de cinzas de 2,12% e teor de finos de 8,27%, poder calorífico de 7.321 kcal kg-1 , com densidade relativa aparente e verdadeira de 0,329 g cm-3 e 1,394 g cm-3 , respectivamente. Quase a metade (47%) das amostras apresentaram presença de materiais estranhos ou atiços nas embalagens. De acordo com a embalagem das amostras, a bracatinga e os eucaliptos foram as espécies mais utilizadas para produção do carvão vegetal. Apesar da falta de informações e padronização em algumas embalagens, todas possuíam registros em órgãos ambientais federais e/ou estaduais. Conclui-se que a qualidade do carvão vegetal comercializado em Curitiba é baixa. Palavras-Chave: testes de qualidade, consumo residencial de carvão vegetal, propriedades do carvão vegetal.

The quality of artisanal charcoal sold for domestic use in Tucuruí municipality in the Brazilian Amazon
