Method: quantitative study with 4,252 children who were victims of violence as reported in the violence and accident surveillance system. “…4 Violence against children and adolescents represents a challenge for public health, since it causes physical, emotional and intellectual impacts, bringing immeasurable consequences throughout life. 5,6 Knowing the situation of violence, the characterization of the population at risk is of fundamental importance and serves as a subsidy for analyzing current public policies and for formulating specific policies and organization of service practices aimed at preventing and supporting victims. Bearing in mind the aforesaid, this study aims to characterize the epidemiological profile of violence in Caxias city, Maranhão State.…”

Child and adolescent victims of sexual violence: aspects of physical and emotional development

Perhaps this is because the culture of rape is rooted in popular belief, in which the victim is often held responsible for the offenders' acts.…”
