ABSTRACT:The aim of this work was to evaluate the energy flows of a commercial production system of swine deep bed in its finishing phase, located in Juiz de Fora, in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Thus, an energy efficiency study was carried out by monitoring a lot of animals, during a 94-day period. The energy rate of each compound involved in the production process was quantified and the matrixes of energy consumption were determined in the form of animal feeding, electrical energy, piglets, material used as deep bed, human labor, equipment, swine buildings, production of alive swine for slaughter, organic fertilizer production (swine deep bed or swine deep litter). From the direct input energy, 80.57% correspond to animal feeding, 11.90% to pigs for slaughter and 6.76% to piglets, while from the energy output 53.45% correspond to the terminating swine and 46.55% to organic fertilizer (swine deep bed). By the results obtained, we can conclude that such production system has corresponded to an industrial and highly specialized agro ecosystem, importing a great part of the energy consumed in the production process, with 41% of energy efficiency. EFICIÊNCIA ENERGÉTICA DE UM SISTEMA DE PRODUÇÃO DE SUÍNOS EMCAMA SOBREPOSTA RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os fluxos de energia de um sistema comercial de produção de suínos em cama sobreposta da fase de terminação, localizado em Juiz de Fora -MG. Para tanto, realizou-se estudo de eficiência energética, por meio do acompanhamento de um lote de animais, durante o período de 94 dias. Quantificou-se o coeficiente energético de cada componente envolvido no processo de produção e determinaram-se as matrizes de consumo energético nas formas de ração, energia elétrica, leitões, material usado como cama, mão de obra, equipamentos, instalações, produção de suínos vivos, e produção de adubo orgânico (cama sobreposta de suíno). Da energia direta de entrada, 80,57% correspondem à ração, 11,90% à serragem e 6,76% aos leitões. Da energia de saída, 53,45% referem-se aos suínos para abate e 46,55% ao adubo orgânico (cama sobreposta de suíno). Pelos resultados obtidos, pode-se concluir que o sistema de produção em questão se enquadrou nas características de um agroecossistema industrial, altamente especializado, importando grande parte da energia consumida no processo de produção e apresentando eficiência energética de 41%. ABSTRACT:The study evaluated the energy performance of pig farming integrated with maize production in mechanized no-tillage system. In this proposed conception of integration, the swine excrement is used as fertilizers in the maize crop. The system was designed involving the activities associated to the pig management and maize production (soil management, cultivation and harvest). A one-year period of analysis was considered, enabling the production of three batches of pigs and two crops of maize. To evaluate the energy performance, three indicators were created: energy efficiency, use of non-renewable resources efficiency and cost of non-renewable energy to produce protein. The energy inputs are composed by the inputs and infrastructure used by the breeding of pigs and maize production, as well as the solar energy incident on the agroecosystem. The energy outputs are represented by the products (finished pigs and maize). The results obtained in the simulation indicates that the integration improves the energy performance of pig farms, with an increase in the energy efficiency (186%) as well as in the use of the non-renewable energy resources efficiency (352%), while reducing the cost of non-renewable energy to produce protein (-58%).KEYWORDS: pig farming, integrated agroecosystems, energy analysis. SIMULAÇÃO DO DESEMPENHO ENERGÉTICO DA PRODUÇÃO DE MILHOINTEGRADA À SUINOCULTURA RESUMO: Foi avaliado o desempenho energético da suinocultura integrada à produção de milho em grão em sistema de plantio direto mecanizado. Nesta concepção de integração proposta, os dejetos suínos são utilizados como fertilizantes na produção de milho. O sistema foi delimitado envolvendo as atividades associadas ao manejo dos suínos e de produção do milho (manejo do solo, cultivo e colheita). O período de análise considerado foi de um ano, o que possibilita a produção de três lotes de suínos e duas safras de milho. Para avaliar o desempenho energético, foram criados três indicadores: eficiência energética, eficiência de uso de fontes não renováveis e o custo de energia não renovável para a produção de proteína. As entradas energéticas são compostas pelos insumos e pela infraestrutura, utilizados na criação dos suínos e na produção de milho, e pela radiação solar incidente no agrossistema. Já as saídas são representadas pelos seus produtos (suínos terminados e o milho). Os resultados obtidos nas simulações apontam que a integração melhora o desempenho energético das granjas suinícolas, aumentando a eficiência energética (186%) e a eficiência não renovável (352%), além de reduzir o custo de energia não renovável para a produção de proteína (-58%).PALAVRAS-CHAVE: suinocultura, agrossistemas integrados, análise energética.

RESUMOConsiderando os impactos ambientais causados pela criação intensiva de suínos, a importância econômica e crescimento desta atividade, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o uso de boas práticas de gestão ambiental em granjas localizadas no Estado de São Paulo/Brasil. Para isto, entrevistas exploratórias foram realizadas com gerentes ou proprietários de 37 granjas escolhidas aleatoriamente. A partir dos dados obtidos, foi possível elaborar um questionário com oito perguntas e criar um banco de dados eletrônico contendo perguntas e respostas. Para cada processo realizado nas granjas, foram atribuídos pesos de 1 a 10 de acordo com sua importância em prevenir ou atenuar a degradação ambiental. As granjas foram, então, classificadas como satisfatórias, satisfatórias com restrições e insatisfatórias se suas pontuações fossem maiores ou iguais a 70 pontos, entre a 51 e 69 pontos ou inferiores a 51 pontos, respectivamente. Os resultados mostraram que aproximadamente 62% das granjas investigadas foram consideradas insatisfatórias uma vez que tiveram pontuação média de 43,61 pontos. Aproximadamente 11% e 27% foram satisfatórias com restrições e satisfatórias, respectivamente, à medida que tiveram pontuações de 59,50 e 84,40 pontos. Para os itens considerados importantes, como o uso de biodigestores e práticas de compostagem, 51,35% não possuíam biodigestores e 67,55% e 62,15%, respectivamente, não utilizavam práticas de compostagem ou o faziam de forma insatisfatória. Ficou evidente então a necessidade de criação de programas de incentivo para melhoria no manejo dos resíduos de suínos em granjas do estado de São Paulo.Palavras-chave: biodigestor, compostagem, dejeto suíno.
