An Unusual (10,3)‐d MOF Material with Nanoscale Helical Cavities and Multifunctionality

“…The derivatives of 3‐pyridyl‐1,2,4‐triazine have attracted interest because of their wealthy coordination chemistry . The analogues 3‐(2‐Pyridyl)‐5,6‐diphenyl‐1,2,4‐triazine‐p,p’‐disulfonate (pdtd) ligand bearing pyridyl and triazine rings along with sulfonyl groups and asymmetrically arranged nitrogen and oxygen donors not only inherits the advantages of the 3‐pyridyl‐1,2,4‐triazine series, but also meets the requirements for the assembly of CPs . Only few reports of CPs with pdtd ligand are available in literature without any other neutral ligands ,.…”

Only few reports of CPs with pdtd ligand are available in literature without any other neutral ligands ,. The major difficulty in using pdtd as ligand to develop varied CPs lies in the fact that pdtd is a large asymmetric molecule bearing sulfonate group that have weaker coordination abilities when compared to carboxylate ligands .…”

“…The 5‐aryl‐3‐(2′‐pyridyl)‐1,2,4‐triazine moieties themselves have been used for decades as versatile ligands for transition‐metal complexes with some medical or technical applications. The most important application is probably that of 3‐(2‐pyridyl)‐5,6‐diphenyl‐1,2,4‐triazine‐ p , p′ ‐disulfonic acid [PyTZ(HO 2 SOPh) 2 ], following the nomenclature in Scheme , also called FerroZine™, for the colorimetric detection of Fe II in biological or other systems .…”

“…Mononuclear copper complexes have exhibited antimicrobial activity [1], optical activities [2], and luminescence properties [3]. Copper complexes are well studied in terms of their kinetics and thermodynamics [4], thermal [5] and magnetic behaviour [6], their chemistry and reactions in metal organic frameworks [7], and charge transfer reactions [8]. DFT and vibrational studies have been frequently used to investigate the structural parameters [9].…”
