Formic acid, the simplest carboxylic acid, could serve as one of the better fuels for portable devices, vehicles and other energy-related applications in the future.
The degree of asymmetric handedness was measured by a 22-item hand preference questionnaire in a sample of 442 Indian subjects. Factor analysis of the data for right-handers yielded four item-clusters: Gross activities, skilled activities (general), skilled activities (specific), and activities subject to social pressure. Identical analysis for left-handers yielded three item-clusters: Activities that are executed with difficulty, with ease, and with greater frequency.The degree of asymmetric handedness in right-handers was positively (high) correlated with an index of social pressure against left-hand use, especially for the items, writing and eating. The correlation was negative (moderate) in left-handers, however, who had preferred the right hand for eating purposes. Cationic ruthenium pincer complexes, [Ru(CNC)(CO)(PPh 3 )Cl]X (CNC = 2,6-bis) with triphenylphosphine, CO and halides as coligands have been synthesised and characterised by 1 H, 13 C, 31 P NMR, mass and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The application of Ru complexes in the transfer hydrogenation of a wide range of ketones with 2-propanol as the hydrogen source is explored. The in situ transformations observed during the synthesis help understand and suggest a plausible mechanism via the hydride complex 3b. All complexes appear to be efficient catalyst precursors for transfer hydrogenation of ketones.
Abstract-Transmission characteristics of 1-D photonic crystal (PC) structure with a defect have been studied. We consider a Si/ZnS multilayer system. We also consider the refractive index of both layers to be dependent on temperature and wavelength simultaneously. The refractive indices of Si and ZnS layers are functions of temperature as well as of the wavelength of incident light. This property can be used to tune the defect modes at desired wavelength. As defect modes are function of temperature, one can tune the defect modes to desired wavelength. It is found that the average change in central wavelength of each defect mode is 0.07 nm/K. This property can be exploited in the design of a tunable wavelength demultiplexer for DWDM application in optical communication.
Intuitionistic fuzzy set plays a vital role in data analysis and decision-making problems. In this paper, we propose an enhanced and versatile method of forecasting using the concept of intuitionistic fuzzy time series (FTS) based on their score function. The developed method has been presented in the form of simple computational steps of forecasting instead of complicated max–min compositions operator of intuitionistic fuzzy sets to compute the relational matrix [Formula: see text]. Also, the proposed method is based on the maximum score and minimum accuracy function of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs) to fuzzify the historical time series data. Further intuitionistic fuzzy logical relationship groups are defined and also provide a forecasted value and lies in an interval and is more appropriate rather than a crisp value. Furthermore, the proposed method has been implemented on the historical student enrollments data of University of Alabama and obtains the forecasted values which have been compared with the existing methods to show its superiority. The suitability of the proposed model has also been examined to forecast the movement of share market price of State Bank of India (SBI) at Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The results of the comparison of MSE and MAPE indicate that the proposed method produces more accurate forecasting results.
