“…The partition coefficient of the [ 61 Cu]PQTS was measured following 1 min of vigorous vortex mixing of 1 mL of 1-octanol and 1 mL of isotonic acetate-buffered saline (pH = 7) with approximately 3.7 MBq (100 µCi) of the radiolabeled copper complex at 37 • C. Following further incubation for 5 min, the octanol/water phases were sampled and counted in an automatic well counter [12]. A 500 µL sample of the octanol phase from this partitioning was repartitioned two to three times with fresh buffer to ensure that traces of hydrophilic 61 Cu impurities did not alter the calculated P values.…”

“…Two production methods of copper-61 have been reported for radiolabeling of biomolecules and other applications [11]. We have been using a routine production method for Cu-61 in our group using natural zinc as a target [12].…”

“…Targets of natural Ni, Zn and Co have also been used at various cyclotrons to produce this radionuclide (Rowshanfarzad et al, 2006). Presently, (p,xn) reactions on highly enriched Ni isotopes are preferred processes for the production of 61 Cu (Szelecsényi et al, 1993;McCarthy et al, 1999).…”

“…The synthesis; structure, antitumor property, toxicity and glutathione (GSH) depletion property in vivo of the NHAG copper complex has also been reported previously [12]. Regarding these properties development of a possible copper tracer using this complex seemed interesting to us based on our recent experiences on radiocopper production via nat Zn(p,x) 61 Cu [13] and developing important Cu-radiopharmaceuticals in our research group [14,15].…”
