Addition of features such as internet access via wireless and other sophisticated functions have converted the present day mobile phone into smart devices with multiple applications. One such area is the educational sector, where several features of mobile phone come in handy. Mobile Learning or m-Learning is increasingly gaining importance among learners, educators, and institutions as a medium of education. In view of the ubiquitous nature of mobile technology and the immense opportunities it offers, there are favorable indications that the technology could be introduced as the next generation of learning platforms. M-learning platform however lacks a comprehensive assessment and evaluation methodology, which is hampers its implementation considering the rapidly changing technology. In this context this paper addresses the question: "Can the notion of the capability maturity model (CMM) be adapted to propose m-Learning maturity?". The basic idea is to consider and use the CMM framework as an inspiration to build a model appropriate for m-Learning that would help measure the maturity of educational institutions in adopting m-Learning. This is a preliminary discussion based on the current understanding of the issue.

A Case StudyThe approach to SOA within an individual company follows a typical hype cycle. By reviewing the main findings and challenges of each phase of the hype cycle, the paper identifies the main pitfalls of SOA implementation efforts. The biggest problems are a lack of skills, expertise, and viable business models. Case study findings show that companies at various phases of SOA implementation should also focus on a simultaneous increase in business process maturity. The interconnection of business process maturity and SOA that is examined here is vital for understanding the likely path towards higher maturity and consequently greater benefits being reaped from SOA implementation.

New mobile platforms, connected seamlessly to the Internet via wireless access have become increasingly more powerful and have found usage in a diverse set of application areas. On such area that has seen exponential growth in the use of mobile devices is the educational sector. Learning facilitated by mobile phones mobile Learning (m-Learning) is increasingly being adopted as an alternative way of imparting education by several institutions. The educational institutions are becoming more open to embracing new learning platforms, which in turn has sparked the interest in developing new assessment frameworks. The increasing popularity of m-Learning in universities necessitates the development of a process maturity evaluation methodology that would help in successful adoption of the new learning platform within universities. Accordingly, this paper presents a maturity model for evaluating the maturity of universities while adopting the m-Learning platform. This is a preliminary framework based on the current understanding of the issue. Later versions are expected to be more detailed and robust with the availability of empirical data from users. Additionally, there is also is a lack of comprehensive assessment and evaluation methodology for m-Learning platform, which is considered to be one of the major roadblocks in implementing the technology. The present paper addresses an important question: Can m-Learning maturity be measured? One viable solution for the question is adapting the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) framework to design and propose a capability maturity model suitable for m-Learning within educational institutions.
