“…Other type of intermediate (apart from gateways) is proposed in [28], where authors describe an object-based middleware called OSHNet which supports heterogeneous communication protocols and messages by applying a new definition of communication objects at the network layer. In our case, we do not deal with different protocols and we are focused on solving the communication processed derived from the emulation of home automation installations.…”
The Internet of Things mechanisms enable the management of home environments since they can be developed as IoT based information systems. From standard smart homes to automated buildings, including other kind of domotics and inmotics solutions, every system must be tested and validated before its installation. The current tools offered by IoT and home automation vendors lack in emulation features close to the real behavior of the devices. In many cases, delaying the verification actions until the hardware is acquired and installed may cause some drawbacks, for example, from the economic point of view. This paper presents a solution for emulating home automation environments which are based on the KNX standard and can be represented by architectures of devices. The emulation consist of developing virtual implementations of real devices which operate and communicate through web technology. The technology implementing these virtual devices allows us to develop components which can provide different type of data related to the installation (audio, video, text, animations, images, etc.). The architectures can be managed using web services and their behavior can be tested through web user interfaces showing the mentioned data. Furthermore, virtual and physical devices are connected to validate the interoperability between the real installation and the emulation.

“…Object-based middleware for smart home network (OSHNet) [11] supports interoperability regardless of device protocols using a device-routing table (DRT). However, although the DRT can deliver messages to other smart devices in the home, it cannot control external devices on the global network.…”
A cyber-physical system depends on stable control and interaction between the many systems and devices connected to the network. Dynamic control middleware, which considers the characteristics of a cyber-physical system, supports the dynamic search and control of devices existing on the global network using Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6). However, systems and devices may connect to a network using a variety of heterogeneous protocols, not just IPv6. To solve the problem of heterogeneous protocols, this paper proposes a routing technique which enables network devices to communicate using different protocols. The proposed network-routing module can register devices with various protocols and improve the stability of the efficient heterogeneous network.
“…Based on collaboration between Korea's carmakers and ICT companies, new added values were created as voice recognition technology and multimedia related technology for vehicles was produced as well as convergence outcomes. In the case of shipbuilding site, the application of ICT technology has allowed real-time verification of process for manufacturing intelligent ship for smart sailing as a representative example of innovation activity [3, 4].…”
For the purpose of overcoming economic crisis resulting from continuing growth and employment recession recently, various convergence policies and strategies are being established and implemented. However, there is a lack of consented concept on the definition and scope of ICT convergence in the existing studies. In the case of considering convergence as an "innovation activity" in particular, there is a limitation of not being able to quantify it. In spite of the social consent and consensus on its importance, basic data, particularly quantified base data, is relatively lacking. Accordingly, this study examined the concept of the existing convergence and summarized the concept of ICT convergence based on which a methodology for researching the ecosystem of ICT convergence was designed. The significance of this study is in the fact that it proposed systemized research design and methodology for all industries for quantitative estimation of ICT convergence market scale. In the future, there is a need to research areas that were not included in this study and for gradual improvement of elements that need further specified criteria.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
