An isocratic liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometric determination of varenicline in human plasma and dosage form

Abstract: The mean extraction recovery of VRC from human plasma was 87.06 ± 2.47%. The reproducibility of the method was reliable with the intra-and inter-day precision was < 5% and average accuracy of 103.54%. The validated method was successfully applied to quantify VRC in human plasma as well as bulk and dosage form in quality control laboratory.

“…Few methods have been described for the determination of VRC in its pharmaceutical preparation using spectrophotometry [6], HPLC [7][8][9] and LC/MS/MS in plasma [10][11][12][13]. Pharmacokinetic studies have been established on VRC [14,15].…”

“…Some papers deal with the analysis of this drug and/or its (bio) degradation products in different matrices—dosage forms, tissues, blood, plasma, serum or human urine. Most of them are dedicated to the chromatographic methods such as HPLC, UHPLC with conventional UV or advanced MS detection . To our best knowledge, only four papers describe CE methods for the separation of VAR and only one of them is associated with the analysis of VAR in complex biological matrices such as human urine .…”
