An IOT based smart metering development for energy management system

Abstract: <p>The worldwide energy demand is increasing and hence necessity measures need to be taken to reduce the energy wastage with proper metering infrastructure in the buildings. A Smart meter can be used to monitor electricity consumption of customers in the smart grid technology. For allocating the available resources proper energy demand management is required. During the past years, various methods are being utilized for energy demand management to precisely calculate the requirements of energy that is ye… Show more

“…A point highlighted by several authors is the development and implementation of interactive dashboards for monitoring, control, and decision-making with a friendly interface customizable by users. This is easily manipulated by users from different areas of knowledge [17,22,31,75,84,91,113]. Taking this into account, the energy management dashboards must faithfully virtualize the installed physical infrastructure [78,87] and provide updated information in real-time [20,78] with low latency [56] by integrating the energy management system with the other layers and management support blocks, including the energy market in real-time [114].…”

“…In the SG, the design of computational tools faces the questions such as can they handle the stochastic and randomness in the system?. Solutions for designing SG using advanced optimization and control approaches for various functions include real-time usage of operational data to assist in handling random disturbances, such as severe weather, real-time measurement techniques for fuzzy control and demand side management that aid in deterministic analysis of sustainability and vulnerability of SG, optimal power flow (OPF) techniques that introduces stochasticity to the grid, and dynamic stochastic OPF that enhance the grid's variability of resources and adaptiveness [34]. Power systems design through sustainable smart grid is possible through the transmission and substation design, distribution system design, demand side management, local charging stations and billing schemes.…”

“…The PIR sensor as shown in Figure 4 is small, simple to use, low-power, cheap, and doesn't wear out. Because of that why the PIR sensor found in the used systems in homes or businesses [18]. PIR used for many projects that need to detect intruders or when a person has left the security zone.…”
