Analyzing the importance of the factors which influence the flow safety of the heated oil pipeline is an important part of the whole assessment process, which is of great significance on the results analysis, phenomenon explanation, and risk control after the assessment. Focusing on the problems in the influencing factors' importance analysis on crude oil pipeline flow assurance assessment, a new method to analyze the importance of the influencing factors is proposed which considers the factors' fluctuations. Based on the actual probability distribution of the influencing factors during the stable operation of the pipeline, a new measure standard of the factors' importance is defined which can measure different factors importance and realize the importance sorting of each factor. The influence of different factors on the inlet temperature is taken as an example. The importance analysis and sensitivity analysis of the influencing factors on the actual pipeline have been done, the results of which are also compared. The results show that this method can combine the pipeline actual operating conditions and the influencing factors' actual fluctuation, reflecting the effect on the results' importance in different values of each factor and different fluctuation. This method can make comprehensive analysis on the importance of the influencing factors effectively.

a b s t r a c tThe hydrocarbon plus fractions that comprise a significant portion of naturally occurring hydrocarbon fluids create major problems when determining the thermodynamic properties and the volumetric behavior of these fluids by equations of state. These problems arise due to the difficulty of properly characterizing the plus fractions (heavy ends). Proper characterization of the heavier components is important when cubic equations of state and/or solid formation thermodynamic models are used to describe complex phase behavior of reservoir fluids. The effect of heavy fractions characterization on thermodynamic modeling of wax precipitation has been investigated using different models including Won, Pan and proposed models. In order to characterize the plus fraction (heavier part) as a series of pseudocomponents, a probability model that expresses the mole fraction as a continuous function of the molecular weight has been used. The study has been conducted using several mixtures. Two different SCN (single carbon number), C 7 þ and C 10 þ were chosen. The Chosen SCN were distributed to multi-components of five, six, and/or ten using continuous function and Gaussian quadrature method. The results showed that the fractioning is required to be able to predict wax precipitation. Distribution of C 10 þ using a proper distribution function has shown improvement in predictions of WAT and the amount of wax deposited in comparison with the characterization of C 7 þ using semi-continuous approach. In predicting of WAT and the amount of wax build up the developed model showed superiority over the others.

During the different seasons of the year, the temperature of the oil tank goes up or down. The present work is composed of two parts, evaluation of the crude oil temperature and determining amount of wax precipitation. The numerical method has been developed for solving the energy equation and a thermodynamic model has been developed to predict wax precipitation based on average crude oil temperature. In the experimental investigation, a crude oil storage tank in Khark Island is selected as the case study and average crude oil temperature have been measured for two days and compared by the numerical result.
