An Interpenetrating Coordination Polymer Containing Weak Hydrogen Bonds and Argentophilic Interactions

Abstract: The structure of the coordination polymer [Ni(en)2][Ag(CN)2]2[Ag2(CN)2] (1; en = ethylenediamine) contains 2D (6,3) sheets in which trans-Ni(en)2{Ag(CN)2}2 moieties bridge between zigzag Ag(CN) chains. The sheets are puckered, and show 3-fold 2D → 2D parallel interpenetration. The structure also contains weak N–H···π(CN) and argentophilic Ag···Ag interactions between the 2D sheets.
