An Innovative System for Picking Mango Fruit

Abstract: A mango picking machine was manufactured from selected light materials to be capable to reach to the high position of mango fruits. The innovated design was depended on confirming the right cutting of the stem position to decrease latex bleeding, protecting the fruits from injures and preventing the fruits from fallen down. The picker cutting mechanism was consisted of two circular saws rotated vice versa towards inside direction and faced a counter sharp blade along the two centers of the cutting discs. “…Basing on (Mohamed, 2017), came up with a system for mango harvesting in Egypt, it was powered by a rechargeable battery of 12v, and 3A was used to recharge the battery whenever power could go low, this system also had a chassis that was made of aluminum material with a thickness of 3mm, with a thread holder attached together with a telescopic picking which consisted a switch of on / off and two bolts connected at the end of cutting discs with an outer diameter of 100mm and inner diameter was 20mm. This system was equipped with a bucket that had an elliptical shape at the entrance such that mangoes can easily be collected in the bucket while the system is moving.…”

“…When compared to a traditional mango picker with a capacity of 22 fruits/min, the results show that the capacity of the trigger and pull types was 12 and 21 fruits per minute, respectively. Mohamed (2017): stated that the fruit stems were not sliced by the circular plan discs. Additionally, increasing the linear speed of the cutting saws increases the overall cutting percentage.…”
