An Innovative Program in Social Work Education

Abstract

This paper is a report of an innovative program in social work education to enrich field supervisors and students with the latest theories and practices related to social work practice in health care settings. This program consists of a study day organized jointly by academic faculty, field supervisors, and students, conducted once a year between 1997 and 2001 in two universities in Israel. Social Work Students’ Opinions about Social Work Education: A Focus Group Study

“…Similarly, the participants of this study also stated: they had difficulty in linking theory with practice; they would understand better if more example were used, practical courses were insufficient and the teachers should practice together with the students. Peleg-Oren, Aran, Even-Zahav, Macgowan & Stanger (2007) developed a program in which they brought academic faculty, field supervisors and students together to link the latest theories and practices related to social work practice in health care settings.
