“…In addition, SlGRP‐LB possessed a signal peptide in the N‐terminal, indicating it is a secreted protein. In Drosophila , the short‐form GRPs are small secreted proteins consisting of the GRP domain and a signal peptide sequence, while the long‐form proteins also contain transmembrane domains (Zhang et al, 2020). Interestingly, the 3‐D structural of SlGRP‐LB analysis suggested that it contains three α‐helices, six β‐helices and a zinc ion binding site.…”

“…We believed that injected bacteria directly entered the S. litura hemolymph activates the host immune response. In Plutella xylostella, E. coli , and S. aureus stimulated the expression of PxGRP‐S1 after 6 h postinfection in the midgut; while in hemocytes and fat body PxGRP‐S1 expression was increased by E. coli and S. aureus after 3 h postinfection, respectively (Zhang et al, 2020). These results suggested that SlGRP‐LB could be induced by various pathogens.…”

“…Following the misuse of insecticides in the field, P. xylostella has developed such severe resistance to most pesticides through multiple mechanisms that it is difficult to control 14,15 . Although RNAi was reported to be less efficient in lepidoptera 16 , RNAi in P. xylostella through dsRNA injection or oral administration demonstrated that this approach is for this species 17,18 . Therefore, the control and resistance management of P. xylostella may be achieved by dsRNA ingestion and interference with specific target genes.…”

“…PGRP1 together with microbe binding protein leads to hemolymph protease‐14 precursor autoactivation (Hu et al, 2019; Sumathipala & Jiang, 2010; Y. Wang & Jiang, 2017). Plutella xylostella PGRP‐S1 serves as a bacterial PRR and triggers the expression of AMPs (Zhang et al, 2020).…”
