“…To understand the characteristics and the difference of the fuel used in the existing common-rail engine and biodiesel is most necessary in the improvement of biodiesel. 7-9 Eom, et al 7 have conducted the study on the effect on the spray characteristics and the combustion, and the characteristics of the exhaust gas by setting the concentration of biodiesel and the mixture amount of ethanol as the variables, and Kim, et al 8 have considered the effect on the spray characteristics by adding biodiesel in existing fuel in the experimental profile. In addition, Park, et al 9 have conducted the study on the effect on an engine in accordance with the application of biodiesel.…”

“…Concerning previous studies on the application of biodiesel fuel, Kim et al [10] experimented to determine the spray characteristics of a common high-pressure rail fuel-injection engine, by measuring temperature and pressure at the front and rear of the filter, the spray angle, and the spray travel distance compared to that of pure diesel. They reported that the spray angle was slightly larger at the beginning of the spray regardless of the pressure, and that the mixed fuel has a small size, because of its viscosity and surface tension.…”

“…The spray tip penetration among them means the maximum distance that fuel reaches from the nozzle tip, and the spray cone angle is the angle of the fuel sprayed, and the particle distribution means the distribution degree after the injection of fuel. As a related study, the shape of the spray and spray cone angle are observed macroscopically by adding biodiesel into existing diesel as an alternative fuel using the common-rail high pressure injection system (Kim, et al, 2011), and the spray tip penetration and the spray cone angle are observed through the optical system and PDA(Phase doppler anemometry) equipment according to the impressed voltage (Lee and Bae, 2010). As shown in the above previous research, the method that understands the spray behavior characteristics by experiments has the limit due to the time and cost.…”
