An experimental investigation of the process of isotope exchange that takes place when heavy water is exposed to the atmosphere

Abstract: We have used the recently developed method for rapid measurement of maximum density temperature to determine the rate at which hydrogen and deuterium isotope exchange takes place when a sample of heavy water is exposed to the atmosphere. We also provide a simple explanation for the observed linear rate of transition.
