Article InfoCotton (Gossypium spp. L.) has been cultivated in tropical and sub-tropical climates of the world. Although the wild species are often woody perennials, ranging from shrubs to trees, the domesticated species are generally cultivated as herbaceous row crops or, in a few areas of the world by ratooning. In addition to being the world"s most important textile fiber crop, cotton is the world"s second-most important oil seed crop after Soybean. The level of genetic diversity of crop species is an essential element of sustainable crop production in agriculture, including cotton. The genetic diversity of Gossypium species is exclusively wide, encompassing wide geographic and ecological niches.

Bu çalışma GAP Uluslararası Tarımsal Araştırma ve Eğitim Merkezi (GAPUTAEM) pamuk ıslah programı ile geliştirilen yeni pamuk hatlarının kontrol çeşitlerle kıyaslanması, verim ve lif teknolojik özelliklerinin belirlenmesi ve öne çıkan genotiplerin tespit edilmesi amacıyla Diyarbakır'da 2012-2014 yılları arasında yürütülmüştür. Çalışma 20 adet hat/çeşit ile tesadüf blokları deneme desenine göre 4 tekrarlamalı olarak yürütülmüş, denemede 17 adet yeni genotip ile 3 adet kontrol çeşit (Stoneville 468, ADN P 01 ve GW-Teks) materyal olarak kullanılmıştır. İncelenen tüm özellikler bakımından genotipler arasında önemli farklılıkların bulunduğu, kütlü pamuk verimi, lif kopma dayanıklılığı ve ilk el kütlü oranı hariç tüm özelliklerde yıllar arasındaki farklılığın önemli olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yıl x çeşit interaksiyonu ise kütlü pamuk verimi, lif verimi ve ilk el kütlü oranı özelliklerinde önemli bulunmuştur. Üç yıllık veriler incelendiğinde denemede yer alan genotiplerin kütlü pamuk veriminin 318.15 kg da-1 ile 385.09 kg da-1 arasında değiştiği, en yüksek verimin sırasıyla MSR06-2-1, TSPXTLX06-1-75 ve SC-9-2 genotiplerinden elde edildiği, lif verimi bakımından ADN P 01 kontrol çeşidinin 156.40 kg da-1 ile en yüksek değeri gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Yeni geliştirilen hatların ilk el kütlü oranı yönü ile kontrol çeşitlerden daha yüksek değerler gösterdiği saptanırken, çırçır randımanında Stoneville 468 çeşidi en yüksek değeri göstermiştir. Lif inceliği yönünden tüm genotipler ideal incelik değerinde yer alırken, lif uzunluğu ve lif kopma dayanıklılığı bakımından GW Teks, ÇG 9 ve SET 34 genotiplerinin üstün değerler gösterdikleri belirlenmiştir.

Temperature is an important factor that affecting growth and development in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.). This research was carried out at Kahramanmaraş and Elbistan conditions having different altitude and temperature in 2012, after the hybridization which made in 2011. For this purpose, eight parents and their fifteen F1 hybrids which are obtained by Line x Tester used as a plant material in a randomized complete block design with four replications. In this study, the effects of Kahramanmaraş and Elbistan conditions were examined on the number of day and degree-day units required for squaring, flowering, bolls opening and harvesting times as well as seed cotton yield, gin outturn, fiber fineness and fiber length. Results indicated that investigated properties, except fiber length were affected by Kahramanmaraş and Elbistan conditions. While genotypes were using less degree-day unit for the first squaring in Elbistan, have been used more degree-day unit in Kahramanmaraş for the first flower, boll opening and harvest times. But, genotypes have been used more day number for collect to degree-day units in Elbistan. For this reason, although genotypes which have 207.41 kg da-1 seed cotton yield in 195 days using 1593.5 °C degree-day unit in Elbistan, had been got 426.25 kg da-1 seed cotton yield in 157 days using 2480.1 o C degree-day in Kahramanmaraş. As a result, 1x4 F1 hybrids and Fantom for Elbistan, 1x5 F1 hybrids and Stoneville 468 for Kahramanmaraş are found very important.
