An audio watermarking algorithm based on significant component modulation

Abstract

Digital watermarking which hides the binary information in the digital multimedia files is an effective method for copyright protection. In this paper we propose a new algorithm that hides the binary information in perceptually significant tonal components and non-tonal components. The quantization index modulation (QIA4) algorithm is applied to embed the watermark in these perceptually significant components. The experimental results show that the proposed watermarking algorithm gives high recovery rate after the attack by commonly used audio data manipulations, such as digital-analog conversion, low-pass filtering, and lossy audio compression.
