Online learning has become a trend in today’s digital age. Accessibility, flexibility, a wide variety of learning resources, collaboration and communication, and the use of technology and innovation are reasons for the increasing popularity of online learning. However, student engagement is often low and requires innovative solutions to increase it. This study aims to develop and analyze the effectiveness of gamified Learning Management Systems (LMS) in increasing student engagement in online learning. The research method used is the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects of this study were students of one of the private universities in Indonesia who attended online lectures during the pandemic. Data collected using questionnaires, observation sheets, and interview guidelines were then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that gamified Learning Management Systems (LMS) was able to increase student engagement in online learning. However, technical limitations and inadequate institutional support were barriers to implementing gamified LMSs. In conclusion, developing gamified LMS can be an effective alternative strategy to increase student engagement in online learning and positively influence their academic performance. Overall, this research contributes to the development of gamified LMS in Indonesia and provides insight into the effectiveness of gamification strategies in increasing student engagement in the online learning environment.

In light of seeking the proper e-assessment media, the Quizizz application may offer some features supporting the online assessment process. However, potential issues on the obstacles faced in using the application for e-assessment have yet to be deeply investigated. The current study investigated the potential challenges in utilizing Quizizz as a formative e-assessment media in English for Tour Operations class. The current study took place in one vocational higher education. Thirty-eight vocational students were invited to participate in the study, but only 30 vocational students agreed to consent. The current study applied a qualitative approach and took a case study design. Classroom observation, questionnaire distribution, and interviews were conducted to gain the data. For the data analysis, the current study implemented three qualitative data analysis phases: reducing data, displaying data, and drawing conclusions. As a result, the current study revealed that most vocational students experienced some challenges using Quizizz during the e-assessment process. They admitted that they had internet connection problems, limited time duration, device problems, and technical skill problems. It indicated that the application could raise potential problems during the e-assessment process. During the utilization of this application, the English teacher or lecturer needs to reassure the vocational students' capacity to take the e-assessment and to offer any assistance for students facing problems during the e-assessment process.

The use of gamification in elementary school is a modern approach aimed at improving learning and increasing students' interest in the learning process. This approach makes it possible to improve the effectiveness of education, involve students in active participation and develop various important skills. Due to the use of modern technologies and changing approaches to education, gamification has become a powerful tool for stimulating the learning process in elementary school. This article examines methodological aspects of using gamification in the educational process of elementary school students. Considering the growing interest in the use of game elements in education, special attention is paid to the analysis of various methods and approaches to the implementation of gamification in the educational process. Strategies for developing gamified lessons, selecting appropriate game elements and integrating them into the curriculum to achieve optimal results are considered. The importance of a methodical approach to the introduction of gamification into the educational process of elementary school is analyzed in order to optimize the quality of education and attract students to active participation in educational activities. Theoretical sources from the pedagogical and psychological fields, as well as practical research on the use of gamification in education, are considered. The online platforms Matific, Learning.ua, Math Learning service, Smart Kids project and «Child Development» were used for the analysis. These tools allow students to be actively involved in learning, adapt the material to their needs, overcome geographical barriers and ensure more effective learning. When choosing educational services, elementary school teachers should take into account the age and development of children, as well as the coherence of the curriculum and values to ensure successful learning and development of students. The main requirements for the implementation of methodological aspects of gamification of the educational process of elementary school include: 1) clear identification of optimal strategies and methods of gamification, as well as 2) development of recommendations for teachers regarding their practical application in the educational process. Teachers can use the findings to create interesting and effective lessons, which contribute to the active involvement of students in the learning process and improve their learning results. In general, we note that the popularity of games among students is explained not only by the very fact of their existence, but also by the satisfaction of the game process itself, the quick feedback and the satisfaction of solving tasks. This can significantly increase the effectiveness of learning and the involvement of students in gaining new knowledge.
