The aim of this paper is to propose a management model which would assess the state of the business and indicate the improvement points, as well as to demonstrate the applicability of the model in a case of the postal company. An A’BA model is proposed which represents a combined application of Analytic Hierarchy Process – AHP method as a multi-criteria decision making tool and theory of business areas. The research consists of two parts. To define the most important influencing factor on business performance, the experts are interviewed. A new concept is proposed and applied in the process of aggregating experts’ assessments based on their mapping in a plane. This creates the appropriate surface, and the position of its centroid in relation to the Saaty’s scale defines the final score of pairwise comparison - an indicator of the relationship between two elements that are compared. In the second part, additional experts from the determined area are involved to define an approach for detailed analysis of the most important factor. In this case, the approach included a survey of employees based on the specialized questionnaire. Integrating Simulation-Based Optimization for Lean Logistics: A Case Study

The present work aims at the comprehensive application of stochastic and optimization tools with the support of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) through a case study in a logistics process for electronic goods; simulation and Response Surface Methodology (RSM) are applied for this purpose. The problem to be evaluated is to define an optimal distribution cost for products shipped to wholesale customers located in different cities in Mexico from a manufacturing plant in Tijuana, Mexico. The factors under study are the product allocation for each distribution center, finished good inventory level and on time deliveries, which are supposed to be significant to get the objective. The methodology applied for this problem considers the design of a discrete event simulation model to represent virtually the real life of logistics process, which is considered a complex system due to different activities are interrelated to carry it out. This model is used to execute the different experiments proposed by the RSM. The results obtained from simulation model were analyzed with the RSM to define the mathematical model that allows identifying the parameters of the factors in order to optimize the process. The findings prove how the ICT facilitate the application of stochastic tools with the purpose of process optimization.

RESUMENCuando se busca una mayor precisión en el análisis de decisiones complejas, se hace necesario recurrir a diferentes técnicas de la Investigación de Operaciones, particularmente en la Teoría de decisiones. Sin embargo, la mayoría de estas pueden ser inadecuadas para manejar desempates de elecciones o disparidad en decisiones grupales por determinadas razones. En este artículo ampliamos los casos de aplicación del esquema metodológico del Proceso de jerarquía analítica (AHP) para abordar problemas en consensos de expertos. Primero, se verifica que esta sea una técnica que garantice el conjunto de preferencias necesarias en un juicio de expertos, luego, aplicamos un procedimiento de priorización usando la media geométrica, para verificar, alcanzar y mejorar el nivel de consenso de grupo por medio de esta técnica de decisión. Finalmente, se ilustra el esquema desarrollado mediante un caso de aplicación en el sector de la logística industrial, llegando a resultados positivos que señalan su efectividad y aplicabilidad dentro del campo de la Teoría de decisiones.Palabras clave: Proceso de jerarquía analítica, teoría de decisiones, investigación de operaciones. ABSTRACTWhen finely analyzing complex decisions, it is necessary to use several methods of operational research, decision theory in particular. However, these normally cannot handle election tie-breakers or disagreement in group decisions for certain reasons. In this article, we extend the range of the methodological scheme of the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) to address problems in reaching consensus among experts. First, we verify that it is a technique that guarantees the necessary set of preferences in an expert judgment; then we apply a prioritization procedure with the geometric mean to verify, reach and improve the level of consensus of the group via this technique. Finally, through a case of application in the industrial logistics sector, the scheme developed is illustrated, reaching positive results that indicate its effectiveness and applicability within the field of the Decision Theory.
