With an emphasis on adaptive processes that respond to uncertainties, the Agile Project Management (APM) approach has evolved the way projects are managed beyond the traditional processes. This study aims to investigate recent literature on APM to discover the adoption drivers and the critical success factors that influence APM success and provide recommendations for the development of APM best practices. The study conducted a literature search on academic databases ABI/Inform, ACM Digital Library, EBSCO Host, and IEEE Xplore with keywords 'agile' and 'project management' for peer-reviewed English language articles published between January 2015 and January 2020 to discover insights regarding adoption drivers and critical success factors. Eleven (11) drivers of adoption and thirteen (13) critical success factors related to the project dimensions of Project, Team, and Culture were discovered. The findings of this study outline the current state of APM adoption and use and is relevant to project management practitioners and researchers.

Os ambientes de projetos possuem incertezas e dificuldades que podem ser resolvidas por meio de métodos que podem ser tradicionais, ágeis ou híbridos. O objetivo desse artigo é entender as vantagens e as limitações da aplicação dos métodos ágeis. Utilizou-se a revisão sistemática da literatura para o alcance desse objetivo como metodologia de pesquisa. Foram encontradas diversas evidências de melhoria do desempenho de projetos no âmbito da equipe, satisfação do cliente, eficiência e eficácia do processo, custo, prazo e funcionalidades do projeto. Também foram encontradas limitações dos métodos ágeis dentro de alguns ambientes, tais como em empresas públicas devido a sua rigidez estrutural, acumulação de cargos pelo gerente, dificuldade de aprovação de mudanças necessárias pelo projeto e incompatibilidade de governanças e regras internas.

Towards Disaster Resilient Smart Cities: Can Internet of Things and Big Data Analytics Be the Game Changers?

Disasters (natural or man-made) can be lethal to human life, the environment, and infrastructure. The recent advancements in the Internet of Things (IoT) and the evolution in big data analytics (BDA) technologies have provided an open opportunity to develop highly needed disaster resilient smart city environments. In this paper, we propose and discuss the novel reference architecture and philosophy of a disaster resilient smart city (DRSC) through the integration of the IoT and BDA technologies. The proposed architecture offers a generic solution for disaster management activities in smart city incentives. A combination of the Hadoop Ecosystem and Spark are reviewed to develop an efficient DRSC environment that supports both real-time and offline analysis. The implementation model of the environment consists of data harvesting, data aggregation, data pre-processing, and big data analytics and service platform. A variety of datasets (i.e., smart buildings, city pollution, traffic simulator, and twitter) are utilized for the validation and evaluation of the system to detect and generate alerts for a fire in a building, pollution level in the city, emergency evacuation path, and the collection of information about natural disasters (i.e., earthquakes and tsunamis). The evaluation of the system efficiency is measured in terms of processing time and throughput that demonstrates the performance superiority of the proposed architecture. Moreover, the key challenges faced are identified and briefly discussed.
