An adaptive robust observer for velocity estimation in an electro‐hydraulic system

Abstract: This paper proposes the design of an observer to estimate the velocity of an electro-hydraulic system by using pressure measurements only. The difficulties involved in the design of an observer for such a system include the highly nonlinear system dynamics, severe parametric uncertainties such as large variation of inertial load and unmatched model uncertainties. In order to address these issues, a nonlinear model-based adaptive robust observer is designed to estimate the velocity. The contributions of the pro… Show more

“…Typical usage concerns seismic test rig [1,2], positioning systems [3,4], vibration control [5,6]. The state estimation of such systems is fundamental for their operation [7]. Indeed, the hard working conditions and the complexity of the hydraulic systems strongly exhort to take under consideration their reliability and, so, the state observers become functional for a fast and economical detection of faults.…”

“…By employing two terms, an adaptive term and a robustness term, the system could achieve an outstanding performance in terms of speed and accuracy performance. Subsequently, other researches enhance such improvements by according greater importance to actuator properties such as saturation and hard limits [13][14][15].…”
