Amyloglucosidase and α-Amylase Enzymes for Determining Starch Concentration in Ponderosa Pine Root Tissue

Abstract: Purified combinations of α-amylase and amyloglucosidase were compared with combinations direct from the supplier to determine their relative precision in estimating starch concentration in root tissue of ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa Laws.). For two of the combinations, estimates of starch by an enzymatic digest method were nearly identical, suggesting that an insignificant amount of contaminants was present in the unpurified enzyme combination.
