Aminopeptidase in Human Seminal Plasma

Abstract: Aminopeptidase of seminal plasma was studied in normozoospermic, oligozoospermic, obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermic men. Significantly higher activity was observed in non-obstructive azoospermic patients than that of other three groups. L-Alanine P-naphthylamide hydrochloride was found to have highest hydrolysis rate in comparison to various other aminoacyl 0-naphthylamide hydrochlorides which were used for determining substrate specificity. 5% inhiiitions of the enzyme activity by EDTA and 1 ,lo-phe… Show more

“…In previous works, the bioavailability of buserelin acetate when added to the seminal dose appeared to be determined by the seminal plasma aminopeptidase activity APN activity has been inhibited in animal sperm with different substances such as bestatin (Togo and Morisawa, 2004;Kubo et al, 2008;Yasuhara et al, 1983;, Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) (Nag Das et al, 1984Das et al, , 1988, or both (Huang et al, 1997;Marinho et al, 2008). This inhibition can affect different fertilization steps depending on the species considered.…”
