Abstract:Corrosion of aluminum alloy 1100 exposed to the boron‐containing alkaline solutions was studied. Test solutions were in the pH 7.5–8.2 range at 25, 55, and 85 °C. Both post‐tested aluminum alloy and alkaline solution were analyzed to characterize corrosion. The results indicate that the oxide layer at 25 and 55 °C was gibbsite Al(OH)3, and at 85 °C was boehmite AlOOH. Colloid deposits were found on the sample surface at 85 °C because of the phase transition of dissolved corrosion products with aging. The physi… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
