Alternate Design Concept for the SSC Dipole Magnet Cryogenic Support Post

Abstract: New materials and developments in the field of advanced composites have created the opportunity to take a fresh look into the design of the cryogenic supports for SSC collider dipole cryostats. Although the present reentrant post design meets the structural and thermal requirements, its assembly requires precision and proficiency.
