Allorecognition and Lysin Systems During Ascidian Fertilization

Abstract: Ascidians (primitive chordates) are hermaphroditic animals that release sperm and eggs almost simultaneously, but several species, including Halocynthia roretzi and Ciona intestinalis , show strict self-sterility.
