Alginate-Based Hydrogel Containing Taurine-Loaded Chitosan Nanoparticles in Biomedical Application

Abstract: The hydrogel efficacy of taurine-loaded chitosan nanoparticle/alginate hydrogel was investigated for controlled release of the taurine substrate, which is known as an antioxidative drug. The composition of the fabricated hydrogels was explored by Fouriertransform infrared spectroscopy. The swelling ability and degradation rate of hydrogels were also analyzed in phosphate-buffered saline at the physiological condition and alginate lyase for a period of 21 days. Moreover, morphologies and structure of hydrogels … Show more

“…Among biomaterials, hybrid of PVA and Col derivatives has been used in both skin and nerve engineering. [22][23][24][25] However, most of them are crosslinked through hydrogen bonds, UV-radiation, glutaraldehyde and carbodiimide. In this study, we have attempted to develop fabrication of PVA and Col fibrous mat as a biological response dressing patch.…”

“…Chitosan nanoparticle (NCs) was generated by ionic gelation technique according to previous report. 25 In brief, chitosan 2.5 mg / mL was dissolved in acetic acid 0.1% (v / v) using magnetic stirrer overnight. The EGCG 1 mg / mL was dissolved in water and then was added to chitosan solution in equal volume ratio and mixed to acquire a homogenize solution.…”

“…Water contact angle analysis was utilized to assess hydrogel's hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties, which regulate protein penetration and cellular adhesion 37–40 . In fact, for cell attachment, in addition to the possible availability of cell‐adhesive ligands, the cells tend to attach to surfaces with water contact angels in the interval of 60°–80° 22,28,40–42 .…”

“…The synergistic effect of EnSCs on tissue regeneration of various tissues such as nerve, bone, cartilage, and skin proved its potential applicability in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (Bahrami et al, 2018;Ebrahimi-Barough et al, 2013;Goodarzi et al, 2019;Zahiri et al, 2019). The hEnSC has ability to secret large amount of bioactive molecules including cytokines, growth factors, as well as other paracrine factors which can be used as a promising approach to design efficient bioactive scaffolds for tissue engineering or tissue repair (Cooper et al, 2018;Lai et al, 2010;Roşca, Ţuţuianu, & Titorencu, 2018;Shabbir et al, 2015;Shafei et al, 2020).…”
