“…The exact cause of this is unknown but in our opinion, this may be due to lack of cooperation of patients in taking Albendazole. In several studies it is confirmed that preoperative and postoperative use of Albendazole can reduce the risk of recurrence significantly (Arif et al 2008;bildik et al 2007). We think the patients should become more informed about the importance of taking their medication and more communication is required between physicians and patients to improve the treatment results.…”

Additionally, using albendazole before and after operation was found to decrease the viability of cysts at the time of surgery, as well as significantly reducing the chances of cyst recurrence (Arif et al, 2008).…”

“…11,12 US has the best diagnostic efficiency, while CT helps in the accurate anatomic localization of cysts. 13 There used to be several US classifications for liver hydatid disease, but the World Health Organization-Informal Working Group on Echinococcosis (WHO-IWGE) standardized the classification system in 2001 (Table 1). 4 Hydatid disease should be treated once it is diagnosed because the cysts usually grow and cause complications, although they can rarely collapse spontaneously and might disappear or calcify.…”
