Abstract: -(Morphological and physiological adjustments in young plants of Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) Kuntze in response to shading). This study evaluated the ability of plants of Araucaria angustifolia in adjusting some aspects of their morphology and physiology to different light conditions. Plants were submitted to full irradiance and shaded (90% reduction) conditions. During the course of a greenhouse experiment, four harvests were made (31, 49, 75 and 158 days after planting) and growth measurements of the sh… Show more

“…According to Veglio (2010), the restriction of the radiation induces the etiolation of the plant, being, this mechanism, caused by the interaction of phytormons. According to Franco et al (2007), regardless of plant tolerance, height increase, either at the beginning or at later stages of development, would be a favorable response to the survival of the plant under shading condition, due to positive net growth considered as a factor of greater importance (Lusk, 2004). The results found for stem diameter (Fig.…”

“…The medicinal species Hyptis marrubioides (Sales et al, 2009) and Baccharis trimera (Silva et al, 2006) presented higher plant height in shaded treatments; however, the increase in height in environments with high luminous restrictions, can result etiolated plants (Franco and Dillenburg, 2007), compromising the shoot and also the issue of side branches. Considering that one of the main objectives of Aloysia triphylla cultivation is the extracted essential oil from the leaves, the variable DLM is considered one of the most important.…”
