Airborne virus detection by a sensing system using a disposable integrated impaction device

Abstract: There are many respiratory infections such as influenza that cause epidemics. These respiratory infection epidemics can be effectively prevented by determining the presence or absence of infections in patients using frequent tests. We think that self-diagnosis may be possible using a system that can collect and detect biological aerosol particles in the patient's breath because breath sampling is easy work requiring no examiner. In this paper, we report a sensing system for biological aerosol particles (SSBAP)… Show more

“…Various sampling principles like impaction, impingement, electrostatic precipitation, filtration, and cyclone have been applied to viral bioaerosol. 7 , 10 , 11 In a study, the collection performance of four devices including all-glass impinger (AGI), impinger (AGI-30), one-stage Anderson impactor (1-STG), gelatin filter, and nucleoporous polycarbonate filter were employed for four bacteriophages. The results showed that about 95% of the cultured phages with a particle diameter of less than 2.1 μm were collected by the Anderson 6-STG impactor.…”

“…The downside of the method, as mentioned earlier, is cost-efficient, and medical experts are required to diagnose the disease [11]. Therefore, the emphasis was on the image processing side to diagnose airborne disease [12].…”
