The development of humanity throughout history has greatly impacted the natural resources of the Earth, jeopardizing the survival of mankind that lived for a millennium in harmony with the natural ecosystems. This paper started because of the concern that has been verified from the degradation processes of paleoagroecosystems. This study intended to analyze how the environmental education contributed as an instrument for the sustainability, standing out for the socioenvironmental sustainability. It is based on the dialectic method, and has a qualitative approach, with a descriptive and exploratory bias, constituting a bibliographic research. The results show the necessity of an increase of knowledge about the relevance of the environment education as a theory and practice, intending to sensitize the society to suppress the impacts on ecosystems and paleoagroecosystems.

ResumoA percepção dos estudantes da educação básica sobre a importância dos sistemas agrícolas agroecológicos para a saúde humana e ambiental é fundamental para as mudanças de hábitos de consumo, conservação da biodiversidade local e transformação social em longo prazo. Por meio de um questionário, constituído por questões abertas e fechadas, foram analisadas as percepções sobre os sistemas agrícolas agroecológicos e convencionais de produção, de 360 estudantes concluintes da educação básica, residentes em nove Regiões Funcionais de Planejamento do sul do Brasil. Utilizamos categorias de classificação para respostas dentro de Research, Society and Development, v. 9, n. 4, e04942784, 2020 (CC BY 4.0) | ISSN 2525-3409 | DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.33448/rsd-v9i4.2784 2 eixos temáticos, expressas em porcentagens e analisadas por meio de testes Qui-quadrado e Kruskal-Wallis. De maneira geral, os estudantes reconhecem os sistemas agroecológicos como mais saudáveis para as suas famílias e para a conservação do solo e da água, principalmente por não utilizar agroquímicos. Entretanto, apresentaram dificuldades em argumentar a sua importância para a conservação da biodiversidade, dos ecossistemas e para a garantia da segurança alimentar das populações. A televisão foi a principal fonte de informação referente a agroecologia, principalmente para os estudantes residentes no meio rural, apontando com isso falhas da educação básica quanto a abordagem do tema nas escolas.Os resultados mostram a necessidade de construir uma complexa rede de conhecimentos e discussões sobre os sistemas agrícolas agroecológicos na educação básica de ensino, que impliquem nas mudanças das percepções dos estudantes, comportamentos e em escolhas sustentáveis. AbstractThe perception of a basic education of the importance of agroecological agricultural systems for human and environmental health is fundamental for changes in consumption habits, the conservation of local biodiversity and long-term social transformation. We analyzed, by utilizing a questionnaire consisting of open and closed questions, the perceptions about agroecological and conventional agricultural production systems in 360 final students of basic education residing in nine Functional Planning Regions of southern Brazil. We used classification categories for answers within thematic axes, expressed in percentages and analyzed by means of Chi-square and Kruskal-Wallis tests. In general, students recognize agroecological systems as healthier for their families and for soil and water conservation, largely because they do not use agrochemicals. However, they demonstrated difficulties when arguing their importance for the conservation of biodiversity, ecosystems and for ensuring the food security of populations. O objetivo foi avaliar o crescimento das plantas, produção de raízes de batata-doce (Ipomoea batatas) e grãos de milho pipoca (Zea mays) em sistema de cultivo solteiro e consorciado. Foram avaliadas quatro cultivares de batata-doce e uma de pipoca em blocos casualizados com três repetições em condições de campo. No cultivo solteiro, a pipoca e batata-doce foram espaçadas 75 cm entre linhas. No consorciado, o plantio da batata-doce foi no centro das entre linhas da pipoca. A adubação foi realizada com cama de frango. Aos 30, 60 e 90 dias foi avaliado o número de folhas, altura das plantas, diâmetro do colmo/baraços e comprimento de baraços. No florescimento foi determinada a matéria seca das plantas, na maturação fisiológica a produção de grãos da pipoca e aos 180, as raízes da batata-doce. Observou-se que a pipoca apresentou a maior produção de matéria seca, número de folhas, diâmetro de colmos e altura de plantas quando solteiro, as cultivares de batata-doce quando consorciadas menor produção de matéria seca e raízes, a produção de grãos de pipoca não apresentou diferença entres os sistemas de produção. O sistema consorciado de pipoca e batata-doce promove maior produção de matéria seca e produção de alimentos por área. Intercropped cultivation of sweet potatoes and popcorn: growth and production of crops ABSTRACT: The objective was to evaluate plant growth, sweet potato productivity (Ipomoea batatas) and grains of popcorn (Zea mays) in single and intercropped systems. Four sweet potato cultivars and one popcorn in randomized blocks were evaluated with three replications in field conditions. In single cultivation, popcorn and sweet potatoes were spaced 75 cm between rows. In the intercropped, the sweet potato was in the center of between the lines of popcorn. Fertilization was carried out with chicken manure. At 30, 60 and 90 days, the number of leaves, plant height, stem/tiller diameter and tether length were evaluated. At flowering, the dry matter of the plants was determined, at physiological maturity the grain yield of the popcorn and at 180, the roots of the sweet potato. It was observed that the popcorn showed the highest production of dry matter, number of leaves, stem diameter and plant height when single, sweet potato cultivars when intercropped, lower production of dry matter and roots, the productivity of popcorn grains there was no difference between the production systems. The intercroped system of popcorn and sweet potatoes promotes greater production of dry matter and food productivity per area.
