“…The MRI features of perineal AAMs consist of isointense or low-signal-intensity fi ndings on T1-weighted images and high-signal-intensity fi ndings on T2-weighted images. [7][8][9] There is heterogeneous enhancement of the tumor after administration of contrast material. A swirled or layered appearance on contrast-enhanced images and T2-weighted images has been reported as a typical feature of AAMs.…”

“…A swirled or layered appearance on contrast-enhanced images and T2-weighted images has been reported as a typical feature of AAMs. 7,8 On MRI, AAMs typically do not show an infi ltrative pattern and tend to displace and grow around adjacent structures. When this infi ltrative pattern is visible on imaging studies, as shown by Stewart and McCarthy, 9 especially when swirled or layered signal intensity is well demonstrated on the fat-suppressed T2-weighted and postcontrast T1-weighted images, the most likely diagnosis should be AAM rather than AMFB.…”

“…Color Doppler imaging reveals abundant blood flow signals within and surrounding the tumor, while pulse Doppler imaging can detect arterial bloodstream spectrum. The obvious deformation of the lesion can be observed through probe pressure in real-time ultrasonography ( 21 24 ). In our study, one case occurred in the left rectal fossa and vulva with the typical ultrasound features described above, and AAM was accurately diagnosed by the sonographer.…”

“…The high signal intensity seen on T2-weighted images reflects the high myxomatous content of these tumors (4). A whorled pattern of signal intensity on T2-weighted images has been reported as a typical feature of aggressive angiomyxomas (5,6). These tumors also show contrast enhancement that reflects their inherent vascularity.…”
