Age-Specific Occurrence of HPV16- and HPV18-Related Cervical Cancer

Abstract: The age-specific of occurrence of cervical cancer related to human papillomavirus genotypes HPV16 and HPV18, the two targeted by current HPV vaccines, is not well described. HPV16 related tumors, but also HPV18 and 45, are more aggressive and cause tumors or precancerous lesions that are detected at an earlier age, while some other carcinogenic HPV genotypes might develop tumours at later ages [32].
