Ag/polyaniline nanocomposites: Synthesize, characterization, and application to the detection of dopamine and tyrosine

Abstract: In this research, Ag/Polyaniline (PANI) nanocomposites were synthesized successfully by the chemical oxidative polymerization of aniline in the presence of 4-aminothiophenol (4-ATP) capped colloidal Ag nanoparticles (NPs). First, Ag colloidal NPs were prepared by borohydride reduction of AgNO 3 in the presence of 4-ATP as a stabilizer. Then, polymerization of aniline in the presence of Ag NPs was carried out by ammonium persulfate as an oxidant at room temperature. TEM, SEM, XRD, FTIR, EDX, TGA, and UV-vis stu… Show more

“…Figure shows the UV–vis spectra of Ag NPs colloid and synthesized composites 1, 3, 4, and the filtrate of composite 1. As shown in Figure (A) (a), colloidal AgNPs exhibit absorption band or broad region of absorption at around 425 nm which arise from excitation of plasmon resonances or interband transitions . Surface plasmon absorption position of metal NPs is mainly sensitive to a number of factors, such as particle size, shape, and the nature of the surrounding media .…”

“…The peak currents were proportional to DA concentration in the range of 80–250 µ M with a detection limit of 17.2 µ M ( S / N = 3). A comparison of the AgCl/PANI/PVA modified electrode with other reported modified electrodes for DA detection is listed in Table . It can be seen that the proposed method was fairly sensitive and has an LOD of 17.3 µ M in a neutral solution whereas other electrode provided lower LODs.…”

“…Mandal et al and Chang et al prepared the dendritic-like Ag crystals using wet-chemical and solvethermal methods, respectively [16,17]. In addition, the composite of Ag@Polyaniline nanostructures has been synthesized successfully by different facile routs [16][17][18][19][20][21][22]. Gao and co-workers have synthesized silver/PANI composites via a self-assembly process [23].…”

“…Conjugated polymers (CP) and their nanofiller incorporated composites have been experienced a great exploration over the past few decades due to their unprecedented functionalities suitable for potential applications as catalysts, sensors, supercapacitors, and dielectrics . Noble metal nanoparticles are excellent candidates as nanofillers for the fabrication of CP based functional composites due to their unique optoelectronic properties, special surface characteristics, and outstanding catalytic and sensing performance . The improved catalytic and sensing performance of CP‐silver nanocomposite is attributed to the increased effective contact area and active sites resulted from the synergistic interfacial and electrochemical interactions between the matrix components .…”
