Ag Nanoparticles‐Modified 3D Graphene Foam for Binder‐Free Electrodes of Electrochemical Sensors

Abstract: Ag nanoparticles-modified 3D graphene foam was synthesized through a one-step in-situ approach and then directly applied as the electrode of an electrochemical sensor. The composite foam electrode exhibited electrocatalytic activity towards Hg(II) oxidation with high limit of detection and sensitivity of 0.11 µM and 8.0 µA/µM, respectively. Moreover, the composite foam electrode for the sensor exhibited high cycling stability, long-term durability and reproducibility. These results were attributed to the uniqu… Show more

“…In this regard, the content of Au in hybrid was found to be around 9.7 wt%, 19.8 wt%, and 30.1 wt% for 3D-GF@Au-3, 3D-GF@Au-5, and 3D-GF@Au-7, respectively. The formation of continuous 3D GR network with good dispersion of Au NPs can provide an effective pathway for charge transfer, more channels and active surface area to accelerate the interfacial reaction [24]. In addition, the penetration of Au NPs into GR struc-Scheme 1.…”

“…This process initiates the electron-hole pair charge separation between the metal oxide and graphene. 43,96,101,112,148 Graphene is a potential electron acceptor and possesses a two-dimensional p-conjugation structure, which effectively suppresses the recombination of photogenerated e Àh + pairs. 49 Jiang et al synthesized a novel ternary SnO 2 /Cu/graphene composite by a one-pot selective reduction method, in which N 2 H 4 $H 2 O was used as a reductant to realize a selective reduction fabrication process because its reduction strength falls in between these two components.…”

“…Han and co-workers modied a graphene foam electrode with Ag 2+ NPs for detecting Hg using cyclic voltammetry (CV), and the limitation and sensitivity were 0.11 mM and 8.0 mA mM À1 , respectively. 43 In addition, the composites containing graphene and Ag NPs can be explored for use as glucose and quercetin sensors. 44,45…”

“…35 In addition, there may be also new penalties arising from supplementary interfaces between the current collector and active material, as well as active materials themselves. 36,37 These high contact resistance and insufficient interactions will greatly decrease sensitivity. In this context, it is of great significance to develop freestanding electrodes consisting of electroactive materials being directly grown on three-dimensional (3D) conductive and robust substrates.…”
