Background: Modern gait analysis offers a broad variety of biomechanical parameters through which to quantify gait. However, no consensus has yet been established with regards to which biomechanical parameters are most relevant to evaluate during gait analysis in the healthy population. Purpose: The purpose of the current systematic review was to determine the most relevant biomechanical parameters for gait analysis in the healthy adult population. Methods: PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science databases were searched. Two independent reviewers participated in the article selection and attributed a Level of Evidence score to each article to account for quality based on participant selection, intervention and analysis. A score combining both frequency and number of articles was calculated. Correlations were carried out between the Level of Evidence score, Journal Impact Factor and the frequency of biomechanical parameters. Results: Spatio-temporal parameters were found to be the most often measured biomechanical parameters and reported by the greatest number of articles; walking velocity, cadence and step/stride length appearing to be the most relevant biomechanical parameters for gait analysis in the healthy adult population. No correlation was found between Level of Evidence score and Journal Impact Factor, nor between the frequency of parameters and Level of Evidence score. Conclusion: This systematic review provides recommendations for variables to assess in future gait evaluations in healthy adults.

A captura de movimentos é um dos principais métodos para analise quantitativa de movimento, a partir do século XIX, desenvolveram-se inúmeros sistemas de captura, para aplicações na biomecânica, animações, jogos eletrônicos e filmes. Uma acurada análise de movimentos humanos requer o conhecimento de distintos campos científicos, por isto se necessita de ferramentas didáticos e métodos de pesquisa e aprendizagem. Os dispositivos de captura de movimentos atualmente encontrados no mercado apresentam algumas desvantagens para uso didático, como a dificuldade de transporte, alto custo e pouca liberdade para aquisição de dados. Por estes motivos, análise quantitativa de movimentos requerem laboratórios complexos. Em reação a estes problemas, este trabalho apresenta o desenvolvimento de um sistema de captura barato, leve, portátil, freeware e de fácil uso para fins didáticos. Este projeto inclui a seleção de um dispositivo e o desenvolvimento do software. Um dispositivo foi escolhido e dois programas desenvolvidos, em ambientes de desenvolvimento diferentes, o primeiro em Microsoft Visual Studio C++ Express¸ para integração entre o dispositivo e registrar os movimentos, o outro em Qt Creator (devido a seu grande número de recursos de programação e visualização) para processamento e representação da captura de movimentos. Ambos visam uma interface de usuário gráfica amigável para uso em salas de aula e para auxiliar o dialogo entre profissionais da saúde e da engenharia a cerca de cinesiologia. O sistema funciona com o dispositivo Microsoft Kinect hardware, um computador com Windows 7 e os programas aqui apresentados.

Abstract. Six-axial force sensors and inertial sensors were used together to construct a wireless wearable sensor system for the successive and non-laboratory measurement of gait. The system consists of the wearable sensor shoes and motion sensors. In order to diminish the influence of motion acceleration in the measurements of accelerometers and the disturbance of surrounding magnetic field in the measurements of magnetic sensors, we modified the Extended Kalman Filter to check the values of the acceleration and magnetic field intensity before updating. And a reference system composed of high speed cameras and stationary force plates are used to validate the reliability of the wearable system. The experiment results showed that the wearable system is able to measure the ground reaction force (GRF), joint angles, joint forces and joint moments.
