A B S T R A C TThe Catalão I alkaline-carbonatite complex, which is located in Central Brazil, is one of the main producers of niobium and phosphates in the world. It has been intensely studied geologically and geochemically for its economic potential. This work presents a geophysical analysis over this complex, identifying its behaviour in the subsurface and in portions that have not been explored yet. Different geophysical methods and techniques were applied to achieve the most reliable results possible: at the surface, through radiometric, geological, and topographic data, and at depth, by geological, magnetic, and gravimetric data. The analysis was successfully completed with inversions of gravity and magnetic data that resulted in quite similar models, both in volume and shape. Their density and magnetic susceptibility contrasts were consistent with the expected dunite-pyroxenite lithology from the original mafic intrusion and indicated (by exclusion) the volume of the carbonatite body, which along with the known contents of phosphates and niobium allowed an indirect estimate of the reserves and resources of the complex.

The mapping of the surface geocovers and their association with lithological, structural and topographic aspects is the main objective of this research, carried out in Chapadão do Diamante (Chd), the extreme eastern portion of Serra da Canastra. With this purpose, aerogamaespectrometric data obtained from sub-orbital flights, high-resolution Google ™ images and fieldwork with superficial material collection was used to create a Surface Geocover Map. The result show a correlation between these variables, either in their cartographic aspect, or through quantitative data. The structural aspects obtained through the delineation of linear features observable in shaded relief images, were analyzed from the overlapping to the Map of Surface Geocover and from a qualitative point of view indicated a distribution throughout the ChD area, demonstrating the main material differentiation in relation to the areas with the highest intensity of rocky outcrops and those with flat tops and hill slopes. In addition, the spatial and descriptive statistics analysis was preponderant for a better understanding of the distribution of the surface geocover data in relation to the aspects of the mapped relief units and the specific topographic aspects, such as slope and curvature of the relief.

RESUMO O sudeste do Estado do Pará é conhecido mundialmente pelas ocorrências de ouro em depósitos filoneanos (primários) e em depósitos placer (secundários). Os depósitos primários são bem menos pronunciados que os aluvionares. Essa região apresenta diversas anomalias magnéticas associadas principalmente ás ocorrências de ouro primário. Este trabalho teve como foco a caracterização geofísica da anomalia magnética Rio Seco, visando a proposição desta como um corpo mineralizado, através da determinação de suas principais características físicas e contexto geológico. O corpo anômalo possui formato irregular com extensão maior na direção NE-SW, obtido a partir do processamento e interpretação geofísica que é concordante com o trend estrutural da região. A profundidade média para a anomalia Rio Seco foi de 134 metros, obtida a partir da Deconvolução de Euler e o contraste de susceptibilidade varia de 0.028 a 0.146 SI obtido a partir da inversão 3D. Diante dos resultados obtidos existe a possibilidade de a anomalia Rio Seco ser uma intrusão que possui diferenciação magmática ou até mesmo ser um núcleo greenstone belt preservado tectonicamente. Furos de sondagem são necessários para confirmar as hipóteses sugeridas.
