School teaching and shoulder pain: a review ABSTRACT Shoulder pain affects about 18 to 26% of adults, being one of the syndromes that most affect the population. Teachers are a risk class for developing disorders related to the shoulder and neck, mainly due to the tasks performed daily by these professionals, mainly the act of writing on the board in an inadequate posture, producing wear and, therefore, the injury. Where the objective of the research was, do school teachers have shoulder pain related to work? Scientific articles related to the theme were accessed in the following databases: Pedro, Lilacs, and Pubmed. As inclusion criteria, articles could be selected in the years 2015 to 2020 that addressed the theme according to the descriptors; studies that have been published within Portuguese and/or English, as well as randomized clinical trials, exploratory, observational, cross-sectional studies; studies that developed on the association between shoulder pain and teachers, The exclusion criteria, were: graduation course work, master's and doctoral dissertation theses; annals of congresses and conferences; technical and scientific reports; letters to the editor; incomplete scientific articles. The results obtained from these researches demonstrate that not only factors related to the characteristics of their work but also biopsychosocial factors, psychological factors are also related to any musculoskeletal disorder in this public. The information in the studies found that shoulder pain is of any nature and is present in school teachers.
