The examples of e-learning systems have been successfully tested in a number of international engineering college and innovative industry and make it possible to improve performance of production by raising the professional level of the students and staff. E-learning can directly tie education to the formation of tutorial for teaching industrial automatism, the purpose of this study is to discuss strategies for developing integrated e-learning courseware based on instructional design and technology models. The essential of this methodological approach is to specify the composition of the various teaching modules in industrial automatism to be accessible to the students with a system modeling method and to develop a digital support that can be exploited in distance learning. E-learning systems aims at a two-way knowledge, communication between academia and industry. E-learning systems provides a real-life environment for engineers to develop their skills and comprehend the challenges involved in everyday industrial practice. This paper describes the challenges for using automates in the industry, It presents the fully application of system analysis for the design of a tutorial for teaching industrial automatism.

Maritime educational program development responding to the industrial tendencies has recently become a challenging issue. In fact, International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) sets competencies for maritime professionals in different ranks. However, it is so important to reconsider the relevant qualification standards and field expectations together. This paper illustrates a basic decision analysis particularly on STCW Code Table A-III/2 in order to identify the priorities of competencies in program development. In this case, Analytic Network Process (ANP) is adapted as a suitable technique to ensure dependencies and feedbacks between the competency items under different functions such as marine engineering at the management level, electrical, electronic and control engineering at the management level, maintenance and repair at the management level, etc. The initial results are useful to balance the methods for demonstrating competence (i.e. simulator training, laboratory equipment training, training ship experience in-service experience, etc.). As a further study, the proposed approach might be extended as a quality assurance tool strength the industrial compliance of program outcomes.

E-learning has become a widespread form of education as it allows the users a relatively easy access to needed information. E-learning has also been present in maritime affairs, although not so ubiquitous as in other economy sectors. Sea-borne shipping is one of the most stringently controlled industries, with a number of complex regulations and standards. This paper analyses learning methodologies and discusses the economic justification of implementing e-learning systems at global level, with an emphasis on the growing e-learning industry, corporate segment of e-learning, massive open online course market, and the importance of the micro-learning concept. In addition, this study analyses the present systems of seafarers’ education and the potentials, strengths and shortcomings of the conventional learning, e-learning and m-learning. Moreover, the recent application of e-learning in maritime affairs and the need of further research of the e-learning impacts in maritime affairs are examined. Finally, the presented information and discussion result in the logic matrix analysis and the SWOT analysis of e-learning, aiming to define the strengths, weaknesses, logic of action, goals and potentials of the implementation of e-learning in maritime affairs.
