Advancement of Hydro-Desulfurization Catalyst and Discussion of Its Application in Coal Tar

Abstract: This paper describes the influences of active metal, promoter and chelating agent on the properties of hydro-desulfurization catalyst. The use of chelating agent, especially its combination with common promoters e.g., EDTA-P, has an important meaning to develop highly active catalyst, specifically to unify the active metal dispersion degree and sulfurization degree in some extent, however, they are contradictory in conventional cognition. In the aspect of carriers, composition and nanometer carriers have more … Show more

“…Similarly to the metal phosphides, the properties of carbides are similar to those observed for the metals ones [5]. The carbides are formed by temperature-programmed reduction of the oxide precursors in CH 4 -H 2 atmosphere, following by treatment with N 2 containing a low quantity of oxygen (volume fraction lower than 1%) in order to passivate the carbides.…”

“…In general, non-noble metal phosphides, such as Co, Ni, Mo or W, exhibited higher HDS activity than their sulfided counterparts [5]. In particular, the crystalline Ni 2 P is very active in HDS reaction, because of its higher intrinsic activity and dispersion, as compared to the other phosphides [94].…”

“…boron addition point in the surface of the catalyst supports modification [13,14]. The effect of boron addition to essential activity of the CoMo-S structure supported on Al2O3, we have shown [15,16] that the addition of an appropriate amount of boron (about 0.6 wt% B) weakens the interactions between the surface of oxides molybdenum and alumina [17].…”

“…As illustrated in Fig. 4&5, the increase in reaction temperature and decrease of LHSV lead to diminution of aromatic content of hydrotreated product as a result of the increasing of contact time and the rate of hydrogenation of aromatics [14].…”

“…[ [7][8][9][10] It is the process used to reduce the heteroatom content, to produce clean fuel, and to meet product specifications. [11] As the fuel from coal tar gets more and more attention, there is the need not only to remove nitrogen and sulfur but also to determine the yield and the quality for products such as gasoline andd iesel fuel.…”
